Concerning their faith in God, have you ever heard someone say, “I just don’t believe it’s so, I ‘Know’ it’s so?” Maybe they are referring to God hearing their prayer or a promise in the Bible they are trusting. Then you ask yourself, “How can they be so confident to know ‘it’ when I am struggling just to believe ‘it’”. Inwardly you may feel a little envious of their faith.
The answer is fairly simple. Although the application does take an exercise of faith, the increased confidence in God is well worth the exercise.
1John 5:13 These things have I written unto you that believe
on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye
have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of
the Son of God.
John tells us why he wrote this epistle to those who already believe in Jesus:
…that ye may know that you have eternal life…
He wrote this letter to move them from believing to knowing.
Let’s put two phrases of this verse together:
…these things have I written unto you…that ye may know.
We can KNOW we have eternal life by believing in the written word alone. In other words, the word is our evidence. We ‘believe’ SO that we may ‘know’.
Know what? Know that we have. Believing produces knowing, that we NOW have eternal life. Not later when we get to heaven, but we know that we have it now.
…that ye may know that you have eternal life…
This truth works for any of God’s promises, including forgiveness and healing.
As you believe and receive healing, through a promise in God’s word, you can know that you have healing now - based upon what is written. And God’s word never fails.
Go ahead and practice this today!
