Do You Know God's Will For Dogs and Sheep?

I watched a TV show this morning called Animal Rescue. This episode featured the rescue of a dog that had fallen into a dark dreary well. The well was about 30 deep and only two feet in diameter. Many people in this small farm town came to the dog's rescue - fire department, sheriff and neighbors. Then a large truck pulled up equipped with a sophisticated camera. It allowed the rescuers to see the dogs position at the bottom of the well. The ill-fated dog looked weak, scared and helpless.

Using ropes and nets they tried and tried to extract the poor animal to no avail. The dog's fate appeared bleak.

I could not help but remember in Matthew 12 the story about Jesus who healed a man that had a withered hand. The religious leaders challenged him by asking if it was lawful to heal on the Sabbath day. Jesus responded by asking them, "If any of you has a sheep and it falls into a pit on the Sabbath, will you not take hold of it and lift it out?" The answer being an obvious yes; Jesus then asked, "How much then is a man better than a sheep?"

I believe an answer to this rhetorical question, that challenged the religious leaders then, will help get some bad religious ideas out of us today. Now Jesus didn't say that a sheep wasn't valuable and a man is. A sheep is valuable. But a man who is created in the image of God is far better than a sheep who was created for man.

Jesus teaches us in this lesson how WILLING God is for us to be healed and delivered. How willing? Just as or more willing than you are to deliver your pet when it is in trouble. Knowing how willing God is to heal us makes receiving healing so much easier.

Well, the rescuers finally got a rope around the dogs neck and pulled him to safety. The owner was happy, the rescue people were happy, the townspeople were happy, and guess what - so was the dog.

Are you better than a sheep or a dog? Jesus believes you are. He died for you so that you would be saved from the pit of hell and delivered from your diseases. He is so willing to heal you. Go ahead and receive. God will be happy, your family will be happy, and so will you.
